The Isle of Skye

Skye is one of Scotland's most well known Isles. Deeply romantic scenery for the romantics and yet also wildy exciting and challenging for those of a more sporty persuasion, the Isle of Skye has something for every visitor. Skye is a Gaelic island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland with more in common with the Outer Hebrides than the Scottish mainland. The Gaelic culture and heritage add to the uniqueness of the Isle of Skye which has been refeered to often in song and poetry, sometimes as "Eilean a' Cheň" (which means The Misty Isle). Of all the songs about Skye one of the most popular is the "Skye Boat Song" which celebrates part of the romantic story of Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora MacDonald.
